WHY JEGGINGS ARE MY GUILTY PLEASURE

Everyone has one, that guilty pleasure that you just can’t help but hold on to that sits quietly smug in your wardrobe. For some, it’s sweatpants, pyjamas, jazzy socks hid behind your favourite (and more stylish) black leather boots… for me, it’s the jegging. Yes, I can hear you crying out in horror, but really, what’s so bad about a little comfort now and then — albeit unless you’re super confident or a University student you’re not likely to be seen in public in your own version of comfy (aka the sweatpants/pjs). It also kind of hit a nerve with me when someone recently, I kid you not, gasped in horror at the idea of “owning a pair of those things”.

For me, buying denim is hard. Seriously, try buying a pair of jeans when you’re 5ft nothing, your waist is 10 inches smaller than your hips and you don’t want any element of the fabric to sag after five minutes of wearing them. I’ve spent £20 on a pair of jeans and I’ve spent £150 on a pair, and every last one of them has either wound up in a charity shop or is buried at the bottom of my wardrobe somewhere. Heck, I was so envious of all my friends back in the day buying their Jamie jeans from Topshop that I just looked ridiculous in. So shoot me if the discovery of jeggings was akin to sliced bread for me!

The trick? If you can (and you do have to search — believe me), invest in a pair that don’t immediately scream out “I’m not real jeans”. I’ve found black jeggings are the most foolproof in this kind of situation, but Superdry do great blue versions too, and the fading on the fabric is very ‘denim’. Did I mention how damn comfy they are?! It’s like they’re giving you a hug (OK, I exaggerate, but I only do that for effect).

Would I love to be able to stroll down the aisles of a store confidently purchasing some jeans that fit me correctly, sure. And, I am sure that if I was willing to part with the hefty price those things might cost just to fit my awkward frame it would all be dreamy. But, maybe, just maybe, I can live with myself for letting a little fashion no-no slip — at least I will be comfortable, and that’s just fine with me, it’s almost winter after all.

Wow, some people are crazy! A decent pair of jeggings will usually be indistinguishable from jeans, that's kind of the point – look like jeans, but more comfy, right?! I bet that woman has never actually tried a pair!
Not come across Superdry ones before, might have to have a look – how were they length-wise (5ft4 here!)? x

I know right?! Total madness — I love them!! I'm only 5ft 2 and the Superdry ones come in different lengths which is a real bonus. I bought the short length ones and they fit perfectly, am really pleased with them and they wash well too! xx
